Solve injection molding problems
Breathable steel is a premium metal material used for plastic molds, formed by compressing numerous steel balls together. These uniform spherical steel balls undergo high-temperature sintering and a series of advanced processing techniques to create an essential material for plastic molds that is both gas-permeable and possesses hardness and strength.
Breathable mold steel consists of a network of interconnected micro steel balls, forming a structure where air can flow smoothly through any part, with a porosity area of around 30%. This allows gases to be effectively expelled from the material. It also has good mechanical cutting performance and acid and corrosion resistance.
Breathable mold steel is commonly employed in industries such as plastic injection molding, die casting, and other molding processes, where the effective release of gases is crucial for producing high-quality, defect-free components.

Some advantages of using breathable mold steel:

1. Improved Venting:
- The porous structure of breathable mold steel facilitates effective venting of gases during the molding process, reducing the risk of trapped air pockets or gas entrapment in the mold cavity.

- Proper venting provided by breathable mold steel promotes better and more uniform mold filling, ensuring that the molten material flows smoothly and evenly throughout the mold cavity.

4. Solve injection molding problems:
-The air permeability of PM-35 breathable steel can solve the difficulties encountered during injection molding, such as air entrapment, water marks, incomplete filling, burrs, etc.
5. Consistent Part Quality:
- Using breathable mold steel can result in more consistent part quality across production runs, as it helps maintain a controlled molding environment by allowing gases to escape uniformly.
6. Save energy:
-When used for injection molding, the air in the mold cavity can be released smoothly through the fine holes in the mold, the pillow pressure can be reduced, and energy consumption can be reduced.
The solution to the deterioration of the air permeability of PM-35 breathable steel after a period of use:
1. If there are plastic debris or tar blocking the micropores, a suitable plastic dilution solvent should be used, and then high-pressure air should be introduced to check the air permeability after one hour.
2. Due to the blockage of oil stains caused by inserts, plastic additives, release agents, etc., the surface can be cleaned with acetone, and then high-pressure air can be introduced to check the effect.
3. If the above still cannot solve the problem, it must be repaired by soft processing and cleaned with acetone, and it can be restored after it is completely dried. Cannot solve flow marks, spots, etc.: The causes caused by flow marks are relatively complicated, such as poor exhaust, the size of the cold material hole, the shape and position of the material port, the mold temperature, the performance of the plastic, etc. So first determine what the cause is. Breathable steel only solves poor exhaust.
