Sintered metal powder filter elements are manufactured from isostatic cool pressing and high temperature vacuum sintering. The micron rating and distribution of the pores can be controlled by the metal powder. They are the ideal choice for process filtration applications where high strength and excellent corrosion and temperature resistance are required.

The pore size primarily determines a filter’s function. When the pore size has been established, the relationship between the flow rate, pressure drop, and filter area is given. By varying the size of the powder particles and the density of the material, filters can be produced with different pore sizes. Furthermore, by controlling the pore distribution, components featuring different properties can be manufactured.
