TB6 Titanium Alloy: A High-Performance Material for Aerospace Applications

Specifications And Applications Of Titanium Alloy –, 51% OFF

TB6 titanium alloy, also known as Ti-1023, is a near-beta type titanium alloy renowned for its exceptional performance. Developed in the 1970s in the United States, this alloy offers high strength, toughness, and remarkable heat treatment capabilities. With a nominal composition of Ti-10V-2Al-3Fe, TB6 titanium alloy features elevated levels of molybdenum, which significantly enhances its heat treatment strengthening ability. Additionally, the presence of a small amount of aluminum strengthens the alpha phase while suppressing the formation of the omega phase during quenching and aging processes.

TB6 titanium alloy boasts impressive properties that contribute to its widespread use in aerospace applications. With a density of 4.62 g/cm³, an elastic modulus of 104 GPa at room temperature, a phase transformation temperature of 800℃±15℃, and a hardness range of 335-375 HB, TB6 exhibits high strength, excellent fracture toughness, lower forging temperatures, and exceptional resistance to stress corrosion. These characteristics provide significant advantages in the manufacture of high-strength titanium forgings. Through heat treatment, TB6 titanium alloy can achieve an ideal balance of strength, ductility, and toughness across a wide range of conditions. Furthermore, the alloy can be utilized in a solution and aging-treated state, with a maximum quenching cross-section of up to 125mm.

Applications

TB6 titanium alloy is available in various semi-finished forms, including bars, forgings, thick plates, and profiles. Its exceptional performance makes it particularly suitable for the production of isothermal-die forgings and hot die tooling forgings. Notably, TB6 alloy has found extensive application in both civilian and military aircraft, such as Boeing 757, A320, B-1B, and Mirage 2000. Moreover, TB6 titanium alloy has been widely utilized in the Boeing 777 next-generation passenger aircraft and the Super Puma multi-role helicopter, making significant contributions to the advancement of the aerospace industry.
