The sintered wire mesh disc combines the advantages of woven wire mesh, offering micron-rated porosity for precise filtration, with diffusion-bonded mesh laminates that provide mechanical robustness and stability. Typically, a fine woven wire mesh filter is encased within multi-layered sintered laminates. These laminates shield the fine mesh from mechanical harm caused by environmental pressure. The 5-layer sintered laminates are favored for their superior strength compared to 3-layer ones.
Various types of sintered mesh filter media are available, including standard 5-layer sintered mesh, all-square sintered mesh, sintered mesh composites, and Dutch weave sintered mesh.
Sheet sintering or true diffusion bonding is a process that leverages time, temperature, pressure, and atmosphere to realign and permanently fuse the molecular components of the alloy where they intersect. This product can be obtained in single or multi-layer constructions. The process yields a stable, secure mesh suitable for high-pressure filtration applications.

What is sintering?
Sintering can be applied to most types of woven wire meshes. Sintered wire mesh bonds all wires together at a specific temperature to prevent medium migration. Vacuum furnace sintering can achieve bonding in one step. Proper sintering ensures firm fusion at nearly every point, allowing even circular holes to be produced in the mesh laminates without damage, a critical aspect in various applications. For instance, in medical filtration or aircraft hydraulic fluid filtration, where loose wires could cause serious malfunctions. Once the sintered mesh wires are fused, the grid's geometric shape becomes permanently fixed. The wires remain immobile under pressure, ensuring stable aperture sizes during service.
