This SS316L sintered element from TOPTITECH measures 6 mm ID × 10 mm OD × 100 mm for the porous section, and 180 mm overall. The slender profile fits housings where standard larger-diameter cartridges simply do not go. Sintering and welding are used in processing; porosity is held around 40% ± 5%-a range that gives good dirt-holding capacity, decent mechanical strength, and practical flow rate. Each filtration rating comes from the specific application; no pre-set standard ratings are kept on the shelf. Some jobs call for finer grades to protect downstream equipment, others need coarser ones for bulk straining.

 

Each end has 1/4" NPT male threads for direct engagement with standard pipe fittings or manifold ports. No adapters or separate seals are required. The 180 mm length gives the element enough reach to fit deeper housings while still leaving clearance for tooling during backwashing. Thread type and body dimensions can be modified to suit customer equipment interfaces and available space.

 

For polymer melt filtration in chemical fiber spinning, this filter runs with polyester, nylon, and other spinning-grade materials in continuous high-temperature service. The sintered metal media creates an open pore network that captures gels and undissolved solids before they reach the spinneret. Since the construction is all metal-no binders or adhesives-there is no risk of particle shedding or extractable leaching within the working temperature range. The element withstands repeated backwashing and reuse, which tends to extend spinneret service intervals and lower overall filtration costs.

One-end thread with a solid tip simplifies installation alignment

The element has three distinct sections: a threaded connection end, a porous middle section, and a solid tip at the far end. The solid tip goes in first, stopping against the bottom of the housing. The threaded end pulls the element tight. This arrangement does two things: the solid tip blocks the far end so melt cannot bypass the filter, and the thread holds the porous section exactly in front of the inlet port. You cannot install it off-center.

At 40% nominal porosity with a ±5% band, pore distribution stays more consistent than cast or pressed materials. Flow resistance does not vary much from one piece to the next, so you do not need to reset process parameters when replacing a used element.

NPT threads seal directly in high-pressure systems

1/4" NPT threads are tapered and seal by metal-to-metal contact when tightened. No O-rings or flat gaskets are required. In high-pressure melt lines, tapered threads hold up better than straight threads with elastomer seals-there is no rubber to harden or crack over time.

Welded joints prevent bypass leakage

The threaded ends are welded to the filter section, not crimped or bonded. Full-penetration welds run continuous around the joint, so melt cannot slip through gaps between components. This matters for spinneret protection-any bypass would send unfiltered solids straight to the spin pack.

Length tolerance fits fixed-depth housings

The 180 mm overall length comes with specified tolerances to match housings with fixed bottom depths. The solid tip locates against the housing base, and when the thread is fully engaged, the porous section lines up with the inlet holes. The element bottoms out without crushing and sits square in the flow path.

1. Chemical Fiber Melt Spinning Lines

Between the extruder and the spin pack, or anywhere along the melt pipe that needs protection-this filter goes there. Polyester, nylon, polypropylene, it handles the usual spinning polymers. The element catches gels, char, and catalyst particles before they reach the spinneret. Fewer plugged holes, less yarn breakage, fewer downgraded lots.

2. Direct Mount in Spin Packs

Some spin pack assemblies accept this filter directly upstream of the spinneret. At that location, it gives you one more layer of protection. The 10 mm diameter fits cavities where standard cartridges cannot go. Anything that gets past this filter ends up in the spinneret-so keeping the element in place means longer runs between spin pack changes.

3. Hydraulic Systems with Servo Valves

Right before the servo valve or proportional valve, this filter stops metal fines and varnish from reaching tight clearances. The same goes for critical lubrication points in bearing housings or turbine pedestals. Systems with this element installed usually show longer intervals between valve maintenance.

4. Analyzer Sample Lines

Gas chromatographs, spectrometers, any instrument that takes a fluid sample-this filter goes in the line ahead of the detector. It removes particulates that could foul the sample cell or shift calibration. The stainless body stays inert in solvents and corrosive samples, so the reading you get is the sample, not contamination from the filter.

5. Gas and Steam Lines

Compressed air, nitrogen, or steam that needs to be clean-this element takes the heat. It goes through steam cycles without warping. No fibers, no binders, just metal. You can sterilize it repeatedly and it keeps working.

6. Chemical Processing

Caustics, acids, solvents-316L handles them. The slender shape fits into existing small-bore piping, so you are not replacing flanges or reworking pipe runs just to add filtration. For viscous fluids, the thin wall keeps the pressure drop lower than you might expect.

7. Marine and Diesel Systems

On vessels and generator sets, this filter cleans fuel or lube oil before it reaches injectors and pump elements. It pulls out hard particles and rust that cause wear in close-clearance components. The welded metal construction takes the vibration and salt-air environment without failing-unlike some assembled or bonded designs.

1. Filtration Ratings

Pore sizes between 0.2 µm and 60 µm are achievable with this powder sintered material. The rating is set according to process needs. Fiber spinning normally uses finer grades to remove gels and char. Coarser grades are for pre-filtration or bulk solids separation. Picking the right rating comes down to knowing what you are filtering out and how clean the downstream equipment has to be.

 

2. Element Dimensions

IDs, ODs, and lengths can all vary. Different housing depth? Different diameter? We adjust accordingly. Tolerances generally sit within ±0.05 mm. We take your cavity size, calculate media area, then set the final length.

 

3. Connection Threads

Threads are 1/4" NPT male as standard. BSP, G, metric (M20 × 1.5 for instance), flanges, clamps, and ferrule fittings are also available. Tell us your fitting or port type. Custom thread designs? We can machine those from your drawing.

 

4. Filter Media Materials

This element uses SS316L. SS304, Hastelloy, Monel, titanium, and nickel alloys are what we use when fluids get more corrosive or temperatures climb higher. What matters in the end is your fluid chemistry-pH, temperature, and chloride levels we have seen as the main variables.

 

5. Overall Length

180 mm is the standard. We can move that number up or down to fit your housing. When the length changes, the porous section and solid tip get repositioned so the media ends up right where the inlet port is. After that, we recheck the active area against your flow.

We need your process numbers-fluid, temperature, pressure, flow rate-and housing dimensions: ID, depth, connection. A drawing works too. We put together a shop drawing for your approval, then go to production once you confirm. Custom orders often involve fresh material orders and tooling adjustments. Lead time depends on the size of the change and our current shop load.
