Product Introduction
Stainless Steel Filter Disc for and Gas Line Protection measure

This filter disc is made from sintered 316L. Its outer diameter measures 21 mm, with a thickness of 3 mm. It is laser welded to a machined retaining ring. The O-ring sits pre-installed in the face groove before the unit ships out.

For instrumentation and gas piping, most unexpected failures do not happen because solid particles pass through the sintered media. The real issue is bypass flow. Gas slips across the O-ring sealing face instead of travelling through the sintered pores. The disc stays in place and looks perfectly normal. Filtration performance falls off, yet the upstream pressure gauge shows no obvious warning.

We machine the groove directly into the disc assembly, not the housing. This blocks that bypass route at the component itself. The housing then only needs a simple flat clamping surface. There is no extra O-ring groove to machine, and no loose seal ring to misplace during service replacement.

This component serves as the final protection point right ahead of sensitive hardware that cannot tolerate particulate contamination. That hardware can be a measurement cell, sensor, nozzle, valve seat or mass flow controller. Its core value here is a combined seal and filter interface that delivers consistent performance after every installation. It is not meant to replace a primary inline filter located further upstream.

Where the 1.27 cm² active area comes from

The effective filtration area is 1.27 cm², confined within the 12.7 mm inner diameter. The rest of the face space is occupied by three fixed features: a 1.65 mm outer support shoulder, a 1.5 mm seal groove, and a weld bead roughly 1 mm wide. This layout limits it to low flow rates, from millilitres up to litres per minute, so it is not built for main process lines.

Pore size depends on powder grade and sintering profile. Pores form at the narrow gaps between fused metal grains. Neither backflushing nor ultrasonic cleaning will alter the pore dimension.

When the pressure gauge reads roughly double the baseline value recorded at commissioning, the disc can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled. The housing stays connected to the piping during this work.

When placing an order, select the O-ring material to suit your process fluid and the sterilisation or cleaning cycle you run. FKM, EPDM and silicone each fit different service conditions. We also need your operating pressure, temperature, maximum allowable differential pressure, micron rating and a realistic number of expected cleaning cycles.

This geometry is not suitable for high-solids flows or large main-line throughput. Do not rely only on datasheet values for seal compatibility and pressure drop limits. Always verify these against your actual operating system.

Particles Held Back Before the Measuring Cell

A sintered 316L disc covers the instrument inlet, trapping particulate on its upstream face so nothing migrates into the element. Gauge pressure climbs slowly as deposits build, and that upward trend signals loading before the measuring cell is affected.

Flow Kept at the Instrument's Required Rate

Instrument lines carry small gas volumes, so ordinary flow rates already represent a heavy load. Gas slows sharply at the inlet face, and pressure loss downstream is then set by pore grade. Choose the grade for the target particle size, then confirm pressure loss at the flow actually used.

Fits the Clearance in the Existing Union

The O-ring sits in a groove machined into the disc face, so sealing lands on a flat surface. The clamping part above needs no pocket, and the line needs no separate filter housing. Compression adds only a small height, the stack stays low, and the line pays just a short length penalty.

Rinsed and Reinstalled After Commissioning

New stainless tubing releases oxidation scale and cutting debris early in service, and these deposits collect on the disc face. The laser weld contains no polymer, so it resists solvents and dries readily. Rinse, dry, and refit; keep one spare for the next startup.

Either Face In, Either Face Sealed

Both faces are open sintered 316L, and gas never crosses the laser weld. Even in a crowded cabinet, the element seats in only one orientation. Material carried by the gas settles on the first face it touches and darkens it, so the darkened side shows flow direction once the disc is removed.

Full Port Coverage, Rim Included

The open face provides ample sintered area, and common port openings fall entirely within the active region. The O-ring seals outside that region and extends over the rim, so every path to the valve or cell crosses sintered metal.

Products Applications

Keeping Analyzer Sample Gas Clean

Installed in the sampling probe or conditioning unit, upstream of the cell, sensor, and pump. Condensate ruins cellulose, yet it moves through the sintered 316L disc with the medium unaffected-no swelling, no distortion.

Protecting Small-Volume Samples

Placed ahead of injection, dilution, or reading. Sintered metal releases nothing fibrous into a small sample. After cleaning, the disc goes back in its holder and remains in service.

indication

application

The O-ring material is selected according to the sterilization method actually applied.

Final-stage filtration for clean utilities. Disc and housing are welded, with no adhesive or fiber source in the flow path. The O-ring material is selected according to the sterilization method actually applied.

Shielding Nozzles, Flowmeters, and Valves

Sparks from welding, fragments of seals, and dirt from the job site are trapped before they can travel further, so orifices, meter heads, and valve passages stay clear of them. When the gauge climbs, the disc lifts out for ultrasonic cleaning; the housing stays on the line.

Guarding Sensor Probe Inlets

At gas or humidity/temperature probe inlets, the disc arrests dust, oil mist, and suspended particles before they reach the sensing element. At Ø21 × 38.1 mm it seats directly in probe sleeves with negligible dead volume.

Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Circuits

In electrolyzer outlets, fuel cell supply lines, or refueling systems, the disc sits ahead of valves, regulators, or catalyst layers. It holds particulate carryover and keeps its structure through pressure swings without deforming or shedding.

faq

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipisicing elit.

Q:1.Can the disc be cleaned and reused?

Yes. The 316L body is rigid, and backflushing, ultrasonic cleaning, or acid washing will not alter its pore structure. The real constraint is the O-ring: silicone rubber withstands hot water and mild chemical media but not strong alkalis or many solvents; fluoroelastomer covers a wider chemical range at the cost of poorer low-temperature elasticity.

Q:2.Is Ø21 mm an industry-standard size?

No. It was made for one specific mounting cavity. Comparable discs are commonly produced in Ø13, Ø16, Ø20, Ø25, and Ø30 mm, and the number is always set by the housing, not by a standard. This version can be resized to an existing cavity; a drawing or sample is enough.

Q:3.What changes when the O-ring material is switched?

Three things shift: the upper temperature limit, the range of media it can tolerate, and compression set behavior. Different materials have different hardness, and the groove depth usually needs slight adjustment as well, so a material change is best confirmed together with the cavity dimensions rather than treated as a simple swap.

Q:4.What is the maximum operating temperature?
