Regeneration Process of Titanium Rod Filter Element

Sintered porous titanium filter bar03The regeneration process of a titanium rod filter element involves both physical and chemical treatments. These processes are used to clean and restore the filter element's functionality in different situations. Here is a breakdown of the regeneration process:

Physical Regeneration Process:

This process is suitable for filter media with fewer impurities and minimal clogging, such as ozone disinfection filters and air filters.

Backflush: Initiate a backflush using pure water (deionized water) for approximately 15 minutes. The backflush pressure should be kept below 0.4Mpa. Alternatively, clean air or steam can be used for backflushing, ensuring the pressure remains below 0.4Mpa.

Ultrasonic cleaning: Place the titanium rod in an ultrasonic cleaning pool and allow it to clean for 60 minutes. After cleaning, rinse the rod with deionized water or distilled water for 15 minutes. Finally, dry and sterilize the rod before use.

Chemical Treatment Process:

This process is suitable for severe blockage of titanium filter elements and complex filter media components, such as decarbonization filtration, protein-containing media filtration, and high viscosity media filtration.

Alkaline washing process:
a. Soak the filter element in a 1% NaOH analytical pure solution for 30 minutes when it is newly used or after a long shutdown period. Prior to soaking, rinse the filter element with normal water and then place it in the alkaline solution. After soaking, rinse the element with deionized water at least two times, with each rinse lasting no less than 30 minutes. The water pressure should be maintained at 0.2-0.3Mpa. After washing, place the element in still water without any floating objects and ensure the pH value of the water is neutral.

Pickling process:
a. Prepare the cleaning solution by dissolving 5% (dry) potassium dichromate (or sodium) in 1000g of normal water. Add concentrated sulfuric acid (for industrial use) to 2000ml of the solution.

b. Take potassium dichromate (or sodium) crystals or fine powder and heat water to dissolve them at a temperature of 60-80 degrees Celsius. Slowly add concentrated sulfuric acid (94%-96%) while stirring continuously. When the addition reaches 1200ml, the potassium dichromate (or sodium) should be completely dissolved, and the color should change from brown-red to deep red. If there is any undissolved matter, heat the solution again to dissolve it. Let the solution cool and seal it for future use.

c. During the configuration process, pay attention to the following:

The cleaning liquid effectively removes general dirt, grease, metal particle impurities, kills microorganisms, and destroys heat sources. Before soaking in the cleaning solution, ensure the alkaline cleaning solution is used first to prevent fatty acids from precipitating and staining the filter elements.

If the color of the cleaning solution turns green, it indicates weakened oxidation ability and is not suitable for use.

The concentration of the acid should not fall below 85% as it greatly reduces the decontamination ability. Therefore, avoid adding additional water to the prescription.

When preparing the cleaning solution, slowly add concentrated sulfuric acid into the potassium dichromate aqueous solution while stirring. Never pour water into the acid to prevent accidents caused by sudden heat explosions.

The cleaning solution should not be mixed with alcohol or caustic soda to avoid explosions.

The cleaning solution easily absorbs water and can be sealed and stored for later use.

d. Cleaning steps:

-Retrieve the filter element.

-Rinse the inner and outer walls with injected water or filtered distilled water at a temperature of approximately 60 degrees Celsius for 3 minutes.

-Use compressed air (without oil or gas mist) to blow dry any remaining water droplets.

-Immerse the filter element in the cleaning solution (diluted to a concentration of 2.5%-3%) for about 15 minutes, then remove it.

-Rinse the filter element's interior and exterior with deionized water or distilled water three times. The water pressure should be 0.3--0.35Mpa, and the temperature should be below 80 degrees Celsius or at room temperature.

-Use hot steam to dry any residual water on the components and place them directly into a steam bacteria cabinet for sterilization, which should last for at least 40 minutes.

-Rinse with a small amount of injected water and bake at a constant temperature of 112 degrees Celsius for more than 1 hour.

-Seal the filter element in a sterilization box for protection.
