Titanium has outstanding characteristics such as low density, high specific strength, low thermal conductivity, good high-temperature and low-temperature resistance, and strong corrosion resistance. Seawater desalination, construction, daily life utensils, and other fields are expanded, and it is known as "modern metal" and "strategic metal".
The titanium industry plays an important role in the development of the national economy and has strategic significance for the development of national defense, economy, and science and technology. It is an important raw material industry supporting the progress of cutting-edge science and technology, and it is also a basic industry for the development of the national economy and industrial upgrading. Our country attaches great importance to the development of the titanium industry, which is supported by the state and local governments at all levels. At present, only the United States, Russia, Japan, and China have mastered the complete production technology of the titanium industry in the world. In 2021, our country's titanium concentrate output will be 2.857 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5%, of which Panxi's output will account for 87.2%.
Demand situation: mainly chemical and aerospace applications
With the continuous development of our country's high-end manufacturing industry, the sales volume of titanium processing materials in my country has grown rapidly, from 43,700 tons in 2015 to 124,500 tons in 2021, and the demand is gradually high-end. However, my country's limited production technology has led to insufficient production capacity for high-end products in the market. The competition of low-end and mid-end products is fierce, the contradictions of product convergence and homogeneity are still obvious, and the supply-demand structure still needs to be further improved. With the strategic adjustment of the national economic structure and industrial transformation and upgrading, the future titanium industry will still be used in aviation, aerospace, large aircraft, ships, petrochemicals, information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, titanium for daily use, deep sea and other industries. There are great opportunities for market development, and the demand will further increase. However, the demand in the aerospace and military industry is mainly for high-end products, and the entry threshold is relatively high. Therefore, it is difficult for most companies to enjoy the dividends it brings.
Import and export situation
Our country's titanium processing technology has been continuously improved, and its international recognition has increased. The export volume is far greater than the import volume. In 2021, it has successfully turned from a trade deficit to a trade surplus and has achieved self-sufficiency in low-end and mid-end products. In the first half of 2022, the export volume of China's titanium processing materials will be 12,800 tons, the export value will be 356 million US dollars, and the average price will be 27,800 US dollars/ton. However, due to limited technology, there is still a big gap in the high-end trading market, and there is a high degree of dependence on imports. In the first half of 2022, the import volume will be 3,500 tons, the amount will be 276 million US dollars, and the average price will reach 79.0 US dollars/kg.
In the future, with the continuous development of my country's aerospace, military and other high-end manufacturing industries, the demand for high-end titanium products will also continue to increase. R & D efforts, our country's titanium industry will speed up to move towards high-end, to help our country develop intelligent manufacturing.
