Integrating Titanium Business With The Production Of Titanium Medical Implants

Velta LLC, a company based in Dnipro, Ukraine, is planning to fully integrate its titanium business with the production of titanium medical implants. The commercial production and distribution of finished titanium medical implants, using Velta's titanium powder in additive manufacturing, is set to begin by the end of this year. This marks a significant milestone resulting from years of intensive work aimed at expanding Velta's powder technology in line with global demand for titanium. By introducing these titanium medical implants to the market, Velta has showcased its vision and aims to solidify its position as the leading comprehensive titanium business.

In 2017, Velta established a research and development center to innovate a new method for producing titanium powder as an eco-friendly alternative to sponge titanium. This patented method has proven to be significantly faster than traditional sponge titanium production. As a result, the company successfully scaled up semi-industrial production of metal titanium powder at its research and development center in Dnipro.

Furthermore, Velta has established two new divisions to enhance vertical integration efforts and strengthen its market presence. Velta Additive Technology focuses on utilizing additive manufacturing technology to produce finished titanium products, while Velta Medical specializes in the manufacturing of custom titanium medical implants in Ukraine.

As Velta continues to expand its commercial and research and development activities in Ukraine, it is currently undergoing a thorough site selection process to establish a cutting-edge titanium powder production facility in the United States. Velta recently announced a collaboration with global engineering consulting firm Hatch to develop this new facility, which is projected to have an initial titanium powder production capacity of 1,000 tons per year.
