How to clean the stainless steel sintered wire mesh filter elements?

Sintered stainless steel mesh filter cartridges are widely used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, and chemical engineering due to their high precision, corrosion resistance, and durability. However, prolonged use inevitably leads to contamination, including particulate accumulation, organic fouling, and scale formation, which can significantly reduce filtration efficiency and lifespan. Proper cleaning is essential to restore the filter's performance and ensure consistent product quality.

There are two main categories of methods for cleaning stainless steel sintered wire mesh filter elements: physical cleaning and chemical cleaning.

Physical Cleaning‌ - Suitable for removing larger surface particles:

Backwashing‌: Use clean compressed air or backwash with clean water (i.e., opposite to the filtration direction)

Ultrasonic Cleaning‌: Highly effective for fine meshes using cavitation‌.

Chemical Cleaning‌ - For stubborn stains, choose cleaners based on contamination type:

Grease/Organics‌: Use alkaline cleaners (e.g., 3-5% sodium hydroxide solution) or surfactants.

Scale/Mineral Deposits‌: Use acidic cleaners (e.g., 5% nitric or citric acid solution).

Protein Stains‌: Use enzymatic cleaners (e.g., protease) for breakdown.

Important Notes:

Avoid high-pressure water jets that can damage the mesh‌.

Avoid strong acids/alkalis (pH <2 or >12) or steel wool that may cause corrosion‌.

Ensure complete rinsing to prevent chemical residue.
