Preparation Method Of High-purity Titanium Powder

Pure titanium generally refers to titanium materials with a purity (mass fraction) greater than 99%, of which the purity of high-purity titanium can reach the 4N level (99.99%) or even higher. As a member of titanium series products, in addition to low density, high melting point, strong corrosion resistance and other properties, high-purity titanium also has low strength and good plasticity (elongation can reach 50%~60%, section shrinkage can be up to 70% to 80%) and other characteristics. In recent years, with the rapid development of high-tech industries such as aerospace and electronic information, the amount of high-purity titanium is increasing. The use of appropriate methods to manufacture high-quality, low-cost high-purity titanium is related to the development of these industries.

Preparation:

(1) high-pressure torsional ultrafine crystallization treatment of raw material electrolytic titanium: 1) select high-purity molten salt electrolytic titanium as raw material, under the condition of room temperature or lower than 0.4Tm temperature, the disk-shaped sample in the mould is subjected to several The pressure P of GPa, while the rotation of the lower die exerts a torque on its cross-section through active friction, causing the deformable body to produce axial compression and tangential shear deformation.

(2) Hydrogenation treatment of ultra-fine-grained titanium material: After the raw material titanium material is subjected to high-pressure twisting, it is placed in a vacuum furnace, and the vacuum furnace is evacuated and then argon gas is introduced, and the furnace body is washed three times with argon gas as a protective gas to eliminate the residual oxygen. The furnace body is heated, and the raw materials are preheated and activated. Heating and heat preservation is carried out at various temperatures to achieve the purpose of activating the raw materials. Insulation is divided into three ranges: low, medium and high. After the raw materials are fully activated, the temperature is finally lowered to the hydrogenation temperature, and hydrogen is introduced into the furnace to maintain a slight positive pressure in the atmosphere. After the raw material absorbs hydrogen, the furnace pressure is reduced to below atmospheric pressure, and hydrogen is supplemented again. When the furnace pressure no longer drops significantly after hydrogen is introduced for a period of time, the hydrogen absorption of the raw material titanium is basically completed.

(3) Titanium hydride is taken out after cooling and ball-milled. Using a planetary ball mill, the titanium hydride is ball-milled to the required particle size in an argon-protective atmosphere, and the titanium hydride powder is taken out and then placed in a vacuum furnace for dehydrogenation. After dehydrogenation for a certain period of time, the obtained titanium is finally further ground and crushed to obtain ultra-fine and high-purity titanium powder.
