What Is The Function Of PEM Electrolizer in Hydrogen Production?

A PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolyzer is a device used for the production of hydrogen gas through the process of electrolysis. It uses an electrical current to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen gases.

The function of the PEM electrolyzer in hydrogen production is to provide a means of converting electrical energy into chemical energy stored in the form of hydrogen gas.

The PEM electrolyzer contains an electrolyte membrane that only allows the passage of protons, which are positively charged hydrogen ions, while blocking the passage of electrons. When an electrical current is applied to the PEM electrolyzer, it causes water molecules to split into hydrogen ions and oxygen molecules at the anode and cathode respectively. The hydrogen ions then pass through the electrolyte membrane to the cathode, where they combine with electrons to form hydrogen gas.

The PEM electrolyzer is a highly efficient and reliable technology for hydrogen production, and is widely used in applications such as fuel cells, energy storage, and industrial processes.
